What is stakeholder engagement?

Stakeholder engagement is an opportunity to develop a robust evidence base for a viability assessment, by inviting representatives of the development industry to contribute to the appraisal inputs through their experience of the local area.

The stakeholder forum would discuss matters such as benchmark land values, sales values, sales rates, abnormal build costs and infrastructure costs, particularly in connection with strategic sites.

This is a crucial stage in ensuring that the basis of valuation of the sites is realistic, with the aim of minimising the level of objection at consultation stage and examination. It is our view that this stage is key to the robustness of a viability assessment to ensure that the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic, Brexit and other global events can be considered and that future challenges can be addressed.
